The gamebird of the South is without a doubt the Bobwhite quail. At Honey Lake Plantation you’ll find a variety of traditional plantation-style hunts for wild and early release birds. Guests remark that our 1800 total acres of fields, woodlots and ponds are reminiscent of a chapter out of Havilah Babcock’s My Health is Better in November. We are flattered that they think so.

Seasoned quail hunters smile when they see our rolling hills and open fields that are chock-a-block with millet, broomstraw and lovegrass. They enjoy the variety of indigenous slash, loblolly, spruce, shortleaf and longleaf pines. And they like the fields rimmed by Cypress, live oaks, sweetgum, and dogwoods.

For a bird hunter, not much starts the day better than a staunch point and an explosive covey rise. At Honey Lake Plantation you’ll see a lot of them throughout your day. English pointers, English setters, and English cocker spaniels. A variety of vehicles to suit your hunting style and physical needs. Opening day is on October 1st, and we begin burning at the end of March. Y’all just c’mon.
